The DWC Dance Program Celebrates Black History Month!

We recognize that dance in general would not exist without the contributions of the prominent individuals of African American, and Caribbean heritage. They have created and contributed to Jazz, Hip Hop, Dancehall, Contemporary, many other social dance styles were created by this rich culture and we commemorate their work in this program by
-Researching prominent Black artists
-& Analyzing their work
- Participating in Afrocentric Master Classes
-Celebrating our partnership with Ailey Arts in Education

-Creating dances based on the black experiences

- Creating dances to black music

- Creating dances based on black art and poetry
